  • The Opportunity

    We are currently seeking a Buildings Construction Inspector to join our Transportation-Construction Management Practice in Charlotte, NC.

     

    Associate performs all aspects of construction administration and demonstrates a high degree knowledge of HVAC, electrical code compliance, vertical structure plan sets. Associate has frequent direct contact with clients, contractors, and suppliers. Preferred background and experience with vertical structures. Travel will be required with possible temporary relocations.

     

    GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS:

    • Acts as a Company representative on construction sites ensuring that workmanship and materials comply with specifications
    • Responsible for field representation on major projects with complex features and where only broad supervision is available or required
    • Performs field tests and checks engineering calculations
    • Checks and verifies the accuracy of dimensions and observes in-progress construction to ensure that workmanship and materials used reasonably comply with specifications
    • Examines workmanship of finished installations for reasonable conformity to standards
    • Ensures compliance with permits and regulations governing construction
    • Records quantities of materials received or used during specific periods
    • Maintains daily reports of construction and inspection activities and compares progress reports
    • Analyzes and reviews inspection findings to determine sources of problems, as well as recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective actions and coordinates problem resolution with the senior supervisor
    • Knowledge of principles and practices of engineering, architecture, or related workProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and applicable technology programs, as required for use in completing assignments
    • Interacts with clients, customers, officials, contractors, sub-consultants, and others to build positive, respected relationships

    Qualifications:

    • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum of 8+ years of related field construction experience, College or other applicable training may be approved in lieu of experience
    • Must obtain any required certifications and pass appropriate qualifications tests for the position within a specified time frame
    • Ability to pass a specialized FAA background screening
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
