The Opportunity

RS&H is currently seeking a Mid-Level Sustainability and Resilience Consultant to join the Consulting Practice in Denver, CO! 



This individual will be part of the Environmental Stewardship and Resiliency (ESR) Service Group providing strategic planning and consulting services to our aviation, transportation, Department of Defense, and aerospace clients nationwide. As a key member of the ESR Service Group, this individual will help our internal client managers and staff professionals identify and resolve sustainability and resilience challenges associated with large infrastructure programs. The position will provide direct support for activities related to ESR, project pursuits and project delivery nationally. This individual will be responsible for developing scopes of work and delivering projects using local and national support staff within schedule and budget constraints, while adhering to quality control requirements.


The ideal candidate will have 7 to 10 years of directly applicable experience providing a broad array of aviation, transportation or federal environmental sustainability and resilience consulting services throughout the United States. Broad policy and technical expertise is sought in: energy, clean fuels, water, stormwater, emerging contaminants, hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste management, recycling, greenhouse gas estimation and mitigation, climate change resilience, risk management, cost benefit analysis, life cycle cost analysis, ESG reporting, and overall construction and operational sustainability, restoration and long-term adaptation and resiliency.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires an accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental management, sciences, planning or engineering or related field.
  • 7 -10 years directly applicable experience.
  • Office location could be Denver, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angelos, Salt Lake City, Dallas, Houston, or Phoenix.
  • Travel nationally up to 20% of time as needed to meet client needs.
  • Experience preparing strategic planning documentation in the areas of sustainability, resilience, climate change adaptation, regulatory documents needed to meet federal and state-specific environmental laws and regulations and FAA orders associated with compliance with federal laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment, mentor junior staff and be highly responsive to client deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is essential for use in completing assignments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ISI’s ENVISION sustainability rating system certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • ISO 9000, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ASTM Practice E1527
  • Certification by a professional society or a state regulatory board in the discipline of practice is desired, if applicable. These certifications or registrations may include but are not limited to American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Certified Environmental Professional (C.E.P.), Certified Ecologist (C.E.), or registered Professional Engineer (PE – Civil/Chemical/Environmental) or Professional Geologists (PG)
