The Opportunity

 

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer for our Transportation-Construction Management practice in Chicago, IL.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Owner’s Representative for inspection and contract administration during the construction of large-scale projects
  • Direct a highly complex and specialized construction engineering administration and inspection program
  • Verify that construction is performed in substantial compliance with the contract documents; and manages the consultant contract, including responsibility for accounts receivable, subconsultant management, and client management interface
  • Plan and organize the work of others. This may also include direct supervision, including hiring, coaching, performance reviews, development conversations, and productivity management
  • Verify and ensure construction activities are performed in compliance with contract documentation
  • Draft all Owner’s-side project correspondence, review claims, change orders, requests for time extensions
  • Develop and/or reviews policies, methods, practices, and procedures

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 10 years relevant experience
  • PE required
  • Prior experience in construction of major road or bridge structures is required
  • Must possess strong oral and written communications skills
  • Must have the ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, and other key stakeholders
  • Proven ability to successfully address challenging or potentially controversial issues in a sound professional and business-like manner
  • Able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time (up to 8 hours). Occasionally required to sit and stoop
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job
  • Subject to environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside
  • Able to safely operate a vehicle on the highway and on construction sites

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current IDOT Erosion and Sedimentation Control Workshop Modules I and III (or must obtain within 1 year)
  • Current (or must obtain within 6 months) IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities
  • HMA Level 1
  • PCC Level 1 & 2
