The Opportunity

We are seeking a Field Engineer for our Transportation-Construction Management team in Houston, TX.

Job Summary:

 

The Field Engineer will help manage the field inspection of roadway and bridge transportation projects, prepare and submit progress and final estimates, check engineering calculations, interpret contract documents, draft engineering solutions in MicroStation for contractors and owners, and oversee contractors to ensure projects are built within reasonable plan and specification conformity.

 

This position will work on multi-million dollar road and bridge projects for transportation owners, including the Texas Department of Transportation, with the potential to move up quickly depending on performance. You will work as part of a project-specific team and be part of a larger and growing Texas Transportation-Construction Management organization of more than 100 construction professionals.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with major road or bridge construction
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Must obtain any required certifications and pass appropriate qualifications tests for the position in specified time frames
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Good driving record
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist or stoop frequently and for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to reach horizontally as well as vertically for required tasks
  • Ability to use construction or inspection safety equipment including fall protection
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 - 3 years of hands-on experience using CADD software, preferably MicroStation, and experience with Highway Design and Work Zone Traffic Control Plans
  • Experience with Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CMGC, and other alternative contract delivery methods
  • Experience in large, complex transportation construction projects
  • OSHA 10 hour training
