The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Senior Architect to join our team in San Antonio, TX

 

 

Job Summary:

 

This opportunity is for an architect to work with our design teams on federal & military projects. RS&H is fortunate to have a wealth of project opportunities through our multiple long-term consulting contracts for Federal clients including GSA, military, and NASA. Our projects range from planning to small renovations to large multi-building projects and include both national and international projects in locations such as Japan, Europe, and the Middle East. This position is intended to be a career-building opportunity as the successful candidate will be asked to grow their architectural skills as part of a multi-discipline team. Successful candidates would also have career growth opportunities in Project Management, Client management and business development. RS&H offers specific training in Project Management and Client Management as well as general career growth training and mentorship. While federal and military experience is a plus, we are focused on your architectural skills and teamwork approach in the delivery of challenging projects for a range of needs.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Defines structural or project elements and processes required to meet client needs, along with participating in and coordinating estimates and proposal/bid preparations. Helps ensure performance to contracts through shared planning and monitoring of work orders and deliverables with engineering, construction, and various other disciplines.
  • Plans and develops architectural projects concerning unique and/or controversial complexities that significantly impact major company programs, including exploration of subject area, definition of scope, selection of items for investigation, and development of novel concepts and methods.
  • Participates in the conceptual design and provides full support through the entire project. Coordinates with project management, other architects, and leadership on appropriate technical solutions and product strategies.
  • Promotes and maintains client relationships through all project phases. Serves as a firm ambassador in helping to win new work.
  • Develops and represents lead technical viewpoint on projects. Serves as a SME on specialized systems. Deve ts and approaches to more challenging assignments.
  • Reviews junior staff's work for technical accuracy and provides technical guidance to other professionals and technicians. May lead a multidisciplinary team to complete projects.
  • Performs quality control reviews and ensure achievement of key milestones. Performs field reviews, inspections, and observations of ongoing construction projects to ensure projects adhere to architectural plans.
  • Maintains professional registration and licensure by ensuring conformance with professional, ethical, educational, and discipline practice requirements. Remains knowledgeable of state and local building codes, zoning laws, fire regulations, and other ordinances.
  • May supervise direct reports, including hiring, coaching, performance reviews, development conversations, and productivity management.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and within scope of practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited program or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years relevant experience. This experience includes working on parts of a major project or multiple moderate-sized projects and proven experience leading and/or providing technical guidance to entry/junior-level staff; reviewing others' work for technical accuracy; and participating in the design and implementation of new products, processes, standards, and/or operational plans that had great impact on the achievement of functional results.
  • Professional Registration Required
  • Demonstrated collaboration with multi-discipline design teams
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Registered Architect in good standing, NCARB certification is a plus or the ability to obtain architectural registration in multiple states is desired
  • Strong architectural design and construction document development capabilities
  • Demonstrated Revit BIM production capability and experience
  • Ability and willingness to travel in the US and internationally
  • US Citizen or National per client requirement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project management experience
  • BIM skills
  • LEED Accredited Professional
  • Visualization and graphics capabilities (Photoshop or others)
