The Opportunity

RS&H is seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant to join our Environmental Stewardship and Resilience (ESR) market in Indianapolis, IN!

 

As a member of the ESR group, this individual will lead environmental projects, direct junior staff and help other project managers and professionals identify and resolve environmental compliance challenges associated with large building and infrastructure programs as well as ongoing client operations. This individual will be part of the Environmental Stewardship and Resiliency (ESR) market segment providing environmental stewardship, sustainability and resilience planning, permitting, and consulting services to Aviation, Transportation, Municipal and private clients nationally. Further, the individual may help identify and incorporate sustainability measures and approaches to make our projects more resilient to the ever-changing conditions with which our nation's airports operate. This mid-level staff position will provide direct support for activities related to ESR and project delivery to the practice firm-wide.

 

The ideal candidate will have strong project leadership, communication and writing skills and an interest in providing a broad array of environmental compliance, natural resources, and planning services. Broad compliance knowledge and interests in water, stormwater, wetland and stream impacts, spill prevention and management, emerging, hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste management, environmental compliance management systems and auditing programs is desired. Interest or prior experience in developing proactive environmental programs, including operational sustainability, environmental restoration, and long-term adaptation and resiliency planning, is beneficial.  Private firm environmental consulting experience required.

 

Requirements:

  • 10 to 15 years of applicable experience in environmental consulting associated with public and private clientele
  • Requires an accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental sciences / natural resources, environmental engineering or related field
  • Demonstrate experience preparing regulatory documents needed to meet federal and state-specific environmental laws
  • Understanding of NEPA review associated with public projects and hazmat, water quality, etc a plus
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint) and ESRI ArcGIS software is essential for use in completing assignments
  • Ability to work in an independent but collaborative team environment and be highly responsive to client

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of complex environmental challenges, regulatory strategies and emerging contaminant investigation preferred.
  • Certification or certification-tracked by a professional society or a state regulatory board in the discipline of practice, if These certifications or registrations may include but are not limited to Certified Environmental Professional (C.E.P.), Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP), Certified Ecologist (C.E.), or registered Professional Engineer (PE - Civil/Environmental) or Professional Geologists (PG)

In addition, this mid-level consultant position will help manage clients and projects, contribute to business development, and mentor junior consultants.
