The Opportunity

We are seeking a Highway Engineer to join our Austin, TX office!

 

 

The position will support current team members on TxDOT’s Alternative Delivery Program performing tasks related to procuring and delivering TxDOT design-build projects and supporting a variety of project and program-related activities ranging from the development of programmatic contract documents, RFQ and RFP documents for design-build projects, program training modules, implementation manuals and program guidelines, and template documents and forms.  This role will also gain valuable implementation and oversight experience through the collaboration with TxDOT oversight teams on design-build projects, assist with implementation-phase value and risk analyses, lessons learned data collection and processing, development of division marketing products, and auditing and compliance functions.

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate willingness to learn, to work collaboratively, and a strong capability for performing diverse and complex work tasks associated with development, delivery and/or oversight of large infrastructure projects procured using a variety of alternative delivery methods. As a Task Manager supporting our project managers, the candidate should demonstrate an ability to work within defined timelines and budgets to develop deliverables and be able to work collaboratively with a team of technical discipline experts who will contribute to the development of various project and program documents.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited university;
  • Professional Engineering license, preferably in the state of Texas
  • 4+ years of experience working on transportation projects; experience using alternative delivery methods preferred
  • Ability to perform tasks and task management on complex and large transportation projects;
  • Ability to work on alternative delivery projects as a consultant to or employee of a state department(s) of transportation;
  • Ability to maintain positive and trusted relationships with clients, staff, and subconsultant partners;
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail along with overall quality control and schedule management; and
  • Ability to track individual project tasks and financial management of individual and overall project tasks.

 Goals and Objectives:

  • Support experienced nationally recognized experts in alternative delivery;
  • Gain valuable program and project experience to be in position to lead future client engagements as a Project Manager;
  • Serve in a meaningful technical role on current alternative delivery engagements with TxDOT and various state DOT’s;
  • Help grow a high performing Innovative Program Advisory group that believes in accountability, communication, ethics, team-work, and a performance-rewarding culture; and
  • Serve as a Task Manager and eventually as a deputy project and program manager for pursuits that provide the best opportunity for selection by the client in such a role.
