The Opportunity

RS&H is currently seeking a project engineer to join our team. This position will work outside on an active construction site. As part of the construction management team, you'll serve an integral role in the firm by acting as an owner’s representative for inspection and contract administration during the construction of large-scale projects. This position will manage the consultant contract, including responsibility for accounts receivable, subconsultant management, and client management interface; verify and ensure construction activities are performed in compliance with contract documentation; direct construction engineering administration and inspection programs; draft all owner’s-side project correspondence; review claims, change orders, and requests for time extensions; and participate in the marketing and development of new contract opportunities and pursuits. This position may also guide and direct the work of others.

 

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and seven years relevant experience.
  • Be a professional engineer (PE) in good standing.
  • Have experience in construction of major road or bridge structures and proven ability to successfully address challenging or potentially controversial issues in a sound professional and business-like manner. 
  • Have a valid driver's license, be insurable, and be able to safely operate a vehicle on the highway and on construction sites. 
  • Have a passion for working outside and a tolerance for exposure to the elements.
  • Possess strong oral and written communications skills and have the ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, and other key stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 - 3 years of hands-on experience using CADD software, preferably MicroStation, and experience with Highway Design and Work Zone Traffic Control Plans
  • Experience with Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CMGC, and other alternative contract delivery methods
  • Experience in large, complex transportation construction projects
  • OSHA 10 hour training
