The Opportunity

RS&H seeks a Water Resources/Drainage Engineering Associate III to join our Infrastructure Group. This position will be based out of our Springfield, IL office.

 

 

Job Summary: This position is responsible for stormwater management, drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, water quality design, environmental permitting, and sustainability practices. Accepted and innovative water resources engineering practices are applied to the following clients: IDOT, other state transportation agencies, regional airports, and local agencies. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Analyzes and interprets data. Performs analyses of design, planning, and impact studies, as well as cost analyses, design requirements, site selection, and criteria and permitting requirements.
  • Designs a complete project, system, component, or process and prepares project documents, engineering analysis, and reports.
  • Prepares project specifications, calculations, exhibits, and prepares complete project documents, analysis, reports, and forms.
  • Formulates and solves problems with innovative solutions.
  • Will collaborate with water resources engineering group and other engineering disciplines. May provide technical guidance and assign tasks to junior and support staff for project duration. May also manage discipline and small multidisciplinary teams and ensure adherence to company and project contractual requirements.
  • May meet with and coordinate with clients to determine objectives and provide quality deliverables.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and within scope of practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience.
  • Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) or eligibility to obtain PE.
  • Proficient in production software and construction document production.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Must have the ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, and other key stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the following:
    • Watershed delineation and determination of hydrological parameters, and construction document production
    • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (HEC-HMS, HY-8, HEC-RAS, SMS SRH-2D, SWMM, and/or ICPR/Stormwise)
    • Drainage Analysis and Design using Geopak Drainage and Subsurface Utilities Design and Analysis (SUDA) for Open Roads Designer (ORD)
    • CADD (MicroStation SS10, ORD, and/or Civil 3D)
    • ArcGIS for water resources projects
    • Plans, Specifications, and Estimates production
    • Erosion and Sediment Control and Best Management Practices
