The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Travel Demand Modeler to join our Transportation Planning practice! This role is open to multiple office locations.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct and QA/QC advanced travel demand models, technical analyses, and reports
  • Travel demand model development, refinement and management
  • Scripting, coding and advanced data analytics
  • Communication on project/task status, schedule, and project activities
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients and project teams
  • Coordinate with junior staff on assignments and workload forecasting
  • Remain current on latest trends, technologies and data & modeling tools/platforms
  • Identify challenges, opportunities and develop solutions best meeting project needs
  • Manage, mentor and train junior staff

 

Qualifications

  • Masters in Transportation Planning, Transportation/Civil Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in travel demand model development, validation, and application, including 4-step and activity-based models
  • Experience in modeling software packages including Cube, PTV VISUM, TransCAD, etc.).
  • Proficiency in econometric model estimation packages such as SAS, ALOGIT or NLOGIT or similar software packages
  • Cube Voyager scripting experience
  • Experience in programming for data mining and statistical analysis such as Python, R, etc.
  • Ability to manage staff performing computer programming with C++, Python, R, C#/.Net, JavaScript, or similar.
  • Experience with public transportation modeling and analysis (i.e. FTA STOPS, TBEST, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods
  • Knowledge of GIS applications and tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think independently, including identifying challenges, opportunities, and solutions
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
