West Region Transportation Division Leader in the Mountain and Northwest Division

 

RS&H is seeking an Transportation Division Leader for our Mountain and Northwest Division in the West Region.

 

To advance our growth plans, we need a successful leader who has an established presence in the West with the drive and ability to lead the business in the Mountain States and the Pacific Northwest. This vital role will provide leadership and strategic direction for the Transportation team, reporting directly to our Regional Leader. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide leadership and direction to the current Transportation team; coordinate with our national resources; recruit and mentor additional resources, including opportunistic hires; and work directly with RS&H’s senior leadership to deploy RS&H’s strategic initiative for the Division. Essential Functions:

  • Supports regional leadership in achieving top-line growth goals, including identification of depressed revenue compared to peer firms within existing geographies; development and execution of business plans to elevate our top-line growth and align with top-tier peer firm levels; identification of potential growth locations; elimination/ mitigation of anti-sponsors and repairing damaged relationships. Balances investments from a sales perspective across the footprint of the division to maximize returns.
  • Manages critical pursuits within the 18-month horizon, mentors practice builders in forming client relationships and expanding the points of contacts between client and us, and aligns RS&H thought leaders with clients.
  • Collaborates with regional leadership to build and lead a high-performing team; key areas of focus include growth, talent acquisition, identifying and developing practice builders, performance management, engagement, and culture. Sets expectations across the division to ensure a culture of excellence and caring, industry leadership, innovative thinking, and integrity. Consults with leadership in the development of training, mentoring, and learning to foster growth opportunities for all associates. Sets clear expectations around the value and importance of meaningful feedback, talent management, and recognition for the division, and leads by example.
  • Partners with regional leadership in the management of key client relationships for loyalty, long-term engagement, and lifetime retention, including identification and cultivation of new client relationship opportunities; associate development to support client relationship building; and growth of existing and new services.
  • Partners with key stakeholders across the firm to understand client satisfaction feedback and develop strategies and action plans where needed, to exceed client expectations.
  • Participates with operations and regional leaders to aid in achieving financial metrics, including participation in the development and execution of the annual business plan, budget, and forecast and implements appropriate strategic operating plans.
  • Serves as a project officer in delivering on annual revenue and profitability goals with regular variance analysis and required adjustments.
  • Consults with business development leaders to ensure appropriate technical expertise and thought leaders are available to support proposal activities.
  • Collaborates effectively with leaders, teams, and associates across the firm to help drive success. Creates an environment that promotes teamwork.

 

As the Transportation Division Leader, you will be responsible for the division's top line and bottom line performance.  Candidates must demonstrate vision and leadership to help achieve top-line growth goals.  In this role you will be a key member to determining strategic direction including identification of growth markets within the practice; development and execution of business plans to elevate our top-line growth and align with top-tier peer firm levels; and balancing investments from a sales perspective across the footprint of the Division to maximize quality, success, growth and financial returns.   In this role the Division Leader must demonstrate the business accumen necessary to successfully achieve business goals necessary for the overall success of the operation.

 

In addition, the Transportation Division Leader will be a key member of the West Region Leadership team and will be integral in setting and responsible for achieving our 3-yr, 1-yr, and quarterly financial, sales, and resource goals. The ability to connect with and sustain professional relationships with team members, clients, partners, and other industry involvement is essential. The successful candidate may also serve in a project leadership role, providing oversight and management of contracts; providing technical and communication expertise; coordinating directly with client leadership; and providing senior level guidance.

 

The Transportation Division Leader will be officed in Colorado, Utah, Oregon or Washington. This is an opportunity to build on the portfolio of our current work and expand into greater market penetration. The successful candidate can anticipate a pathway to becoming an Owner and Vice President in the firm upon board approval.

Goals and Objectives:

  • Lead the Transportation Division in the Mountain and Pacific Northwest responsible for both topline growth and bottom line performance.
  • Responsibilities include business development leadership in the Transportation market to provide client management, growth and sustained backlog, including leadership of client relationships for loyalty, long-term engagement, and lifetime retention
  • Participate in the annual development and execution of the firm’s Business Plan, including establishing sales, revenue, and expense goals
  • Participate in achieving sales goals for pursuits within the Division, and aid in marshalling appropriate resources to do so
  • Manage the business bottom line to sustain the success of the firm in the Mountain and Pacific Northwest.
  • Work collaboratively with leadership to develop goals, growth plans, and implement strategic initiatives
  • Develop successful partnerships and relationships with other consulting firms to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for projects
  • Partner with our transportation practice to strengthen and grow transportation throughout the west.
  • Develop critical pursuits within the 18-month horizon, mentor practice builders in forming client relationships, expand the points of contacts between clients and RS&H, and align RS&H thought leaders with clients.  Providing critical leadership for strategic pursuits.
  • Participate in the positive promotion of Division-wide initiatives, in collaboration with other leadership
  • Monitor and participate in the development of associate morale, addressing any associate concerns or issues, and collaborating with Human Resources, as necessary
  • Attend and present at conferences to improve the visibility of RS&H’s services and expertise

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • Minimum 12 years of progressive leadership experience within Transportation infrastructure development
  • Professional registration (PE) or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire
  • Established client relationships/marketing and business development experience
  • Strong supervisory skills and record of leading multiple/multi-discipline teams
  • Excellent organization and motivation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to travel across the Division to existing/potential Clients
  • Must have a Valid Driver's License with a good driving record
