The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Computer-aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Designer to join our Texas Aviation Team in Dallas, Austin, Houston, or San Antonio!

 

 

The selected candidate will work with associates assisting on a variety of Infrastructure projects that include Civil and Aviation design with a strong knowledge of technical standards to exceed client expectations and provide cost-effective solutions. This position works independently, under general supervision, exercising judgment in the application of standard methodologies and procedures for routine work. The candidate will utilize CADD software packages to create quality and timely deliverables for projects, supporting our Aviation design teams by developing 3D design models and drafting plan documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Create 3D models of existing site conditions including utilities, topography, roads, taxiways, runways, and aprons.
  • Process and maintain survey and SUE (subsurface utility engineering) data to adhere to RS&H standards.
  • Prepare high-level exhibits for airport operations including phasing, aircraft and vehicle movements, and earthwork reports.
  • Design taxiways, runways, aprons, parking lot, roadway grading at various phases of the project adhering to federal, state and airport guidelines using alignments, profiles, sections, and corridors
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of Civil 3D basics including layer management, coordinate systems, units, data shortcuts, dynamic blocks, xrefs, file management, and transmittal processes.
  • Create and maintain subassemblies for taxiway, runway and roadway corridors
  • Prepare and revise dynamic styles, labels, layers for plan documents maintaining RS&H CADD standards
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of civil engineering basics including sheet organization, topographical data, scales, coordinate systems, site grading and volume calculations
  • Quality assurance adherence to best practices and standards
  • Provide support to engineering and project management associates
  • Act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to design

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s degree in CADD (or similar degree) and 3+ years of experience as a CADD Designer, preferably in Civil/Aviation CADD design
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D with ProjectWise and ACC integrations
  • Working knowledge of Transoft AviPlan and AutoTurn software
  • Basic knowledge of Autodesk Infraworks
  • Basic knowledge of processing LiDAR/point cloud manipulation software into Civil 3D with various forms (.jpe, .jgw, .las, .xml, .rcs, .pts, .csv)
  • Basic knowledge of geographic information system software (ArcGIS) and Autodesk Recap
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret red line drawings, as well as understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions
  • Experience using Bluebeam and MS Office products
  • Effective team-focused associate that will foster teamwork, help set priorities, and define expectations
  • Good organization and motivation skills
  • Enjoy working in a highly flexible, team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Excellent communication, analysis, and documentation skills
