The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Transportation Planner / Transportation Engineer to join our Transportation Development team in Charlotte, NC.

 

 

As a Transportation Planner/Engineer, you will work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment and must have excellent communication, data management, and documentation skills. The ideal candidate will have experience with the various stages of transportation and project planning, including feasibility and NEPA studies. This role will include performing preliminary engineering and planning activities and/or studies such as environmental and engineering inventories, purpose and need assessments, multi-modal evaluations, logical termini/independent utility analyses, engineering feasibility and transportation planning studies, and alternatives analyses. This position offers tremendous potential for growth and the opportunity to work with a team of outstanding multi-disciplinary professionals serving local, state and federal clients in Charlotte, NC and the eastern US.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
  • AICP or PE Certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive transportation development experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with NEPA (and NC equivalent), Section 4F, Section 6F, Section 106, and Section 404 is a plus.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS, Microsoft Office (including MS Project) is required. Experience with MicroStation is helpful.
  • Experience identifying grant opportunities and developing grant applications preferred, but not required.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail along with overall quality control and management.
  • Conscientious of project schedules (including Microsoft Project) and deadlines involving deliverables (including interim deadlines).
  • Ability to track individual project tasks and financial management of individual and overall project tasks.
  • Strong teamwork and project organization skills working on projects and with staff.
  • Willingness to participate in business development efforts.
