The Opportunity

We are seeking an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Program Manager to lead AAM initiatives! This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of next-generation air transportation, integrating cutting-edge technologies, developing vertiport infrastructure and preparing communities for the arrival of advanced air mobility.

 

In this role, you will provide executive-level guidance, technical expertise, and strategic oversight for the integration of Advanced Air Mobility Initiative (AAM) technologies, vertiport infrastructure, and community readiness. The consultant will operate as a trusted advisor, shaping policy, engaging stakeholders, and guiding implementation of one of the most ambitious AAM initiatives in the nation.

 

As the AAM Program Manager, you will drive the development, integration, and execution of initiatives that support next-generation air transportation systems. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, engineering, operations, and business development, requiring a blend of technical expertise, regulatory awareness, and stakeholder engagement. The individual will serve as a cross-functional leader—shaping corporate strategy, developing infrastructure solutions, engaging with regulators and partners, and ensuring successful implementation of AAM vertiport operations.

 

Responsibilities: 

 

Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as client senior advisor on all aspects of AAM strategy, policy, and infrastructure integration.
  • Shape statewide AAM implementation roadmaps, aligning with FAA, NASA, industry OEMs, and state legislative framework.
  • Guide long-range planning for vertiports, electric charging infrastructure, and integration with airports and transit systems.

Program Oversight & Governance

  • Direct and coordinate consultant teams (planning, engineering, outreach, environmental) supporting client AAM program.
  • Establish and maintain program governance structures, reporting protocols, and measurable performance outcomes.
  • Provide briefings to client leadership, legislative committees, and partner agencies.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead high-level coordination with airports, metropolitan planning organizations, municipalities, and private operators.
  • Design and facilitate statewide advisory committees, roundtables, and pilot exercises to test policies and site readiness.
  • Represent client at national and international AAM conferences and policy forums.
  • Facilitate community outreach and education initiatives.

Policy & Regulatory Guidance

  • Advise on statewide zoning and regulatory frameworks, land-use compatibility, and site approval processes for AAM infrastructure.
  • Support development of the Local Government AAM Toolkit and other resources to prepare communities for AAM operations.
  • Monitor and advise on federal regulatory developments (FAA MOSAIC, vertiport design standards, airspace integration).
  • Support in developing investment and funding strategies.

Business & Funding Strategy

  • Identify funding pathways (federal grants, state appropriations, public-private partnerships) to advance client AAM vision.
  • Provide guidance on procurement strategies and partnership models to accelerate implementation.

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning, public policy, business, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred. 
  • 15 years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 5+ years advsing DOTs, airports or federal agencies on emerging aviation technologies (UAS, AAM, UAM).
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-displinary consultant teams on a large-scale, statewide or multi-agency initatives.
  • Strong background in policy, governance and regulatory strategy at the federal or state level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • UAS/drone operations experience (commercial, research or government applications).
  • Experience in urban air mobility, eVTOL or advanced rotorcraft programs.
  • Infrastructure planning/design experience - airports, vertiports, electrical charging systems or multimodal transit integration.
