The Opportunity

RS&H is currently seeking an experienced project administrator to join our team. This position will work outside on an active construction site. As part of the construction management team, you'll serve an integral role in the firm by directing inspectors and assisting in all phases of moderately complex to complex construction projects. This position will plan, coordinate, schedule, and execute detailed phases of work as part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope; prepare and/or supervise preparation of field testing and construction inspection reports; coordinate and interpret drawings and specifications; consult with manufacturers/contractors; evaluate and select materials with lead design professionals and observes design and construction features of projects in the field; manage the contractor's daily operations and significant events that affect the work to ensure detailed accurate records are collected and maintained in a timely and accurate fashion; ensure materials being incorporated into the project are being sampled and tested in accordance with the requirements of the contract documents; and serve as a key liaison to utility companies, jurisdiction having authority, client representatives, and other key stakeholders to facilitate resolution of any impediments to the project construction schedule.

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Supervises and provides direction to inspection staff, administrative staff, and subconsultants. This includes coordinating and directing staff on assigned projects.
  • Plans, coordinates, schedules, and executes detailed phases of the work in part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
  • Prepares and/or supervises preparation of field testing and construction inspection reports; coordinates and interprets drawings and specifications; consults manufacturers/contractors; evaluates and selects materials with lead design professionals; and observes design and construction features of projects in the field.
  • Manages the contractor's daily operations and significant events that affect the work to ensure detailed accurate records are collected and maintained in a timely and accurate fashion. This includes ensuring the detailed accurate records of the quantities of work being performed are collected and maintained.
  • Ensures that materials being incorporated into the project are being sampled and tested in accordance with the requirements of the contract documents.
  • Serves as a key liaison to utility companies, jurisdictions having authority, client representatives, and others to facilitate resolution of any impediments to the project construction schedule.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and within scope of practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and seven years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have experience in project administration and in construction of major road or bridge structures and proven ability to successfully address challenging or potentially controversial issues in a sound professional and business-like manner. 
  • Have a valid driver's license, be insurable, and be able to safely operate a vehicle on the highway and on construction sites. 
  • Have a passion for working outside and a tolerance for exposure to the elements.
  • Possess strong oral and written communications skills and have the ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, and other key stakeholders.

Physical Demands:

  • Able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time (up to 8 hours). Occasionally required to sit and stoop.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job.
  • Subject to environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
  • Able to safely operate a vehicle on the highway and on construction sites.
